When Professional Cricketer, Tshepo Moreki comes to mind, so do adjectives such as talented, humble, focused and rising-star.
Tshepo Moreki has more than just pace. From a young age, he showed the ability to attain late swing and land a devastating yorker.
Currently applying his professional trade for the Six Gun Grill WP Blitz, Tshepo is a force to be reckoned with and is set to make major strides within the cricketing world.
As someone who believes that the world of cricket has “helped me connect better with people,” it’s a no brainer that the cricketer has stolen the hearts of many sports fanatics across the country.
Driven by making both his friends and family proud, South African Lifestyle Magazine got an exclusive one-on-one with the Cape Town-based cricketing star, of whom we could all learn a thing or two from.
How do you maintain a balanced and positive mindset?
I spend time away from cricket to recharge and keep the hunger for my passion alive.
What are the top 3 current priorities in your life?
Definitely my family/friends, the team, and my mental health – those are the 3 most important things to me that I pay most time and energy to.
Why are you so passionate about sports?
It brings people together, and for a moment people forget about what’s going on in their lives or in the world in general.
With sports comes travel, how do you deal with long periods away from home?
I still struggle with that to this day however, staying connected helps a lot, which I am grateful for.
How do you mentally deal with a bad practise or a bad performance?
Now it doesn’t really bother me, however, it used to be a big problem for me. Teammates helped me get over it and rather focus on the positive.
What do you believe is the greatest challenge sportsmen are facing today?
Shutting out the outside world and focusing on how you can help your team be the best it can be.
What life lesson has being in a team sports taught you?
Don’t listen to all the compliments or all the criticism, try stay level-headed and humble.
What do you look for in a good teammate?
Honesty and selflessness…
Is mental health in sports important to nurture?
Extremely important! It should be a priority to nurture and take good care of.
