“I’ve made it my life’s mission to write and speak about the capacity of humankind.”
-Mdu Mathenjwa (Self-Discovery Agent)
Mdu Mathenjwa is an Entrepreneur (Founder of the award-Winning Grashyo Creations), Self-Discovery Author, Ghost-Writer, Public Speaker (Health & Safety Motivation, and Self-Discovery Speaker), and a retired Close Protection Officer (CPO).
After the tragedy of a mixture of Sulphuric acid and Nitric acid that exploded on him at the age of 22 years, Mdu’s career of being the best Chemical Engineer seemed to have gone down the drain after having spent 7 months in hospitalisation and rehabilitation.
Mdu has academic backgrounds in Chemical Engineering (MUT), Occupational Health and Safety (NOSA), and Business Management (Varsity College).
Mdu later realised that the solitude he spent for 7 months was a process of self-calibration and purpose reinvention. Grashyo Creations was born through his tragedy, an author of multiple books was born, and Self-Discovery and Health and Safety Speaker emerged.
For over a decade, Mdu Mathenjwa has been the Self-Discovery Agent through Authorship, Public Speaking, and Facilitation for organisations, athletes, and individuals. He connects with both the minds and hearts of his audience when on stage.
His understanding of human potential makes him believe that everyone and every organisation can be top of the food chain if they invest in self-concept.
“In everything you do, do it to be top of the food chain. Do it to rule it… AND NEVER SURRENDER!”

WINNING IS INSANITY’S BEST FRIEND
Leading Yourself Out
Self-Discovery
Little insanity is the only way out of the twists and turns on the journey of your life sometimes. A dose of insane decision-making is the only way to your goal, to your promotion, to your next step in business. Like it or not, you need a dose of insanity now and then. Here’s the catch, though, and I mention this in my book titled A SOLDIER IS A STATE OF MIND – Discovery Your Strong Self.
Life is a battlefield. Either we fight our way out of the jungle, or we die there. If you do not accept that you will need to fight tooth and nail to find that job, perform your best to keep that job, work relatively harder than your colleagues for that promotion, and be flexible with today’s ever-changing times to keep that business afloat; if you do not accept any of these things, you are heading for disaster. If you fail to just believe that you can still escape your deathbed, then you will die on the battlefield.
Winning Is Insanity’s Best Friend is an engagement that is designed for any progressive thinker (someone who is obsessed with succeeding in life at all costs).
Outline
- Redefining insanity
- Redefining winning
- Understand how winning goes hand and glove with insanity
- A personal story where the insane decision was made, so I may lead myself out of my jungle
- Case study to reflect on self and finding insane ways to escape your jungle
SAFETY IS PERSONAL
Health & Safety Motivation to Achieve Zero Harm
Health and Safety
There is an adage that says, “You can lead the horse to the water, but you cannot make it drink the water.” This is similar in the workplace: They know their jobs and know how to do them safely, but unsafe behaviours remain one of the greatest causes in the workplace. Clearly, the employees refuse to drink from the river of safety in the workplace. The big question is, “why do they behave like that?”
The answer is the fact that we only speak to their minds to comply with health and safety in the workplace, we do not speak to their heart, so they may know that safety is more than business, it is personal. Meaning if something happens to them in the workplace, not only the company suffers, their dreams, goals, carers, and families suffer as well.
One Moment, One Incident, Changes Your Entire Life.
Safety Is Personal is a heart-to-heart motivation designed to sensitise employees about workplace safety and broaden their perspective of safety awareness in the workplace. The outline is based on the speaker’s career, self-esteem, family, emotional, physical, dreams, and goals changes he has been through due to one incident that occurred to him in the workplace.
Outline
- The accident (What happened)
- Hospital experience (7 months of hospitalisation and rehabilitation)
- Physical and emotional changes from the accident until today
- How my dreams, goals, and loved ones were affected
- How to make workplace safety personal (Working safely from the heart)
THE TIDE IS WEAK UNDERNEATH
Never Stay Down!
Self-Regulation Motivation
The greatest mistake you could make would be to trip, fall, and stay down other than lifting yourself and moving on with your life. MOVE ON: from your unfavourable past, move on after a divorce, move on after losing your job, losing a promotion, and move on after your business has plummeted.
You can only move on by understanding the fact that the Tide Is Weak Underneath, and you had to experience going under: drown, lose, fail, and fail again to charge forward in life. Regulating yourself through unfavourable times is your best tool to move forward.
Outline
- Personal story on the tide being weak underneath
- Recognising your own tide
- Understanding the concept of self-regulation
- How to find a way of charging forward after failure(s)?
