
In commemoration of human rights Day on 21 March, Liberty, is partnering with the Ipelegeng Skills Centre in White City, Soweto to host a stage play that seeks to empower the community on issues relating to financial education. The enactment will cover key topics that seek to address alleviation of poverty through financial education, responsible saving and spending, and developing skills for entrepreneurship.
“This interactive stage play aims to highlight the connection between human rights and financial inclusion, equipping community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed financial decisions and build secure financial futures,”

“Basic human rights are enshrined in our Constitution, and inherent in them is the right to economic freedom. So, through this play, we are exploring the meaning of human rights in the context of financial inclusion, ensuring that participants understand the role of economic empowerment in securing their economic rights,”

The stage play will be used to encourage audience participation, bringing financial concepts to life in a relatable and interactive way. Through thought-provoking storytelling, the performance will spark discussions and allow participants to ask questions about finance, helping them gain practical insights into money management.
Additionally, discussions on responsible lending and debt management will provide valuable guidance on making smart financial choices and avoiding common financial pitfalls. The content of the event is designed to empower community members to take control of their financial futures.
