In partnership with Stella Artois, acclaimed singer-songwriter Langa Mavuso transformed Johannesburg’s historic Market Theatre into a live “therapy session,” blending music, storytelling, and performance art to unveil his most personal album yet.
The historic Market Theatre became the stage for an unforgettable night of music, reflection and healing recently as celebrated singer-songwriter, Langa Mavuso, launched his much-anticipated sophomore album, “Therapy: The Other Side”.

Presented in partnership with Stella Artois, the event drew an audience of industry leaders, media, culture contributors, family and devoted fans who turned out in style to witness a performance that will be remembered as one of the year’s cultural highlights.
A poignant moment came when Langa invited long-time collaborator Manana to the stage for the debut of “You Live On” – a song Manana penned, inspired by Langa’s late partner. Seen at the event were Lloyiso, Nadia Nakai, and newly announced Sony Music Africa label manager, Matimba Gift Nkuna, amongst others.

The performance unfolded as both a tribute and a release: a tender meditation on love, grief, acknowledgement, and the courage to let go, while still holding on to memory. It was a moment that stilled the room and reminded everyone present of music’s power to heal and connect.
Seated on a striking therapy couch at centre stage, Mavuso welcomed guests into what felt like a live therapy session. In conversation with film and media professional Pulane Mafatshe, who played “therapist”, Mavuso unpacked the album’s themes of loss, spirituality, and self-discovery, revealing the deeply personal journey behind each track.

“’ Therapy: The Other Side’ is the most honest body of work I have ever created,” said Langa Mavuso. “It speaks to my younger self, my healing, and the parts of me that needed to be understood. To share it in this way, with people I love and respect in the room, felt like the truest way to bring it into the world.”
The atmosphere matched the artistry. The foyer of the Market Theatre buzzed as guests mingled over perfectly served Stella Artois, creating an elegant prelude to the performance. Inside the auditorium, the energy was palpable, where every lyric was met with deep attention, culminating in a standing ovation that carried a sense of collective catharsis.
