Johannesburg, became the heart of African music culture as
Afrobeats superstar ASAKE performed live in South Africa for the first time. Presented
by AfroFuture’s latest property, CURATED BY CULTURE (CBC) at The Goldrush Dome,
the landmark event marked a significant milestone for both Asake and CBC.

As a new live experience platform centred on storytelling, curated content, and
cultural excellence, CURATED BY CULTURE made its South African debut with an
immersive and elevated concert experience that complemented AfroFuture’s global
festival legacy and embodied an African ambition at scale.
More than just a concert, the Johannesburg show served as the closing chapter of
Asake’s Africa tour, transforming the night into a powerful homecoming moment. The
performance featured a specially curated set with orchestral arrangements, the rich
harmonies of the Soweto Choir, and surprise guest appearances by Focalistic and
Young Jonn, bringing together Nigerian and South African music heavyweights on
one stage.

The evening unfolded as a layered cultural showcase, supported by a dynamic line-
up that set the tone throughout the night. Audiences experienced vibrant sets from
Nights in Lagos and GBEDU Nights, alongside standout performances by SHLUDA DE
GURU & LUTHOHASBADMANNERS, JAZZWRLD & THUKUTHELA, and Musa Keys,
reinforcing the pan-African spirit that defined the event.

From chart-topping anthems to emotionally charged live renditions, the performance
highlighted Asake’s evolution as a global artist, deeply rooted in African sound while
commanding international appeal. His collaborations with South African artists
reflected a shared musical language that transcended borders and signalled a new
era of African creative excellence.
“Curated By Culture aims to create meaningful moments that feel authentic,
grounded, and globally relevant,” said Kenneth Agyapong, Co-Founder of AfroFuture.
“Launching this platform in South Africa with Asake, an artist who embodies the spirit
of modern Africa, was both essential and symbolic. The night was not just about music,
but about connection, collaboration, and setting new standards for live events across
Africa and beyond.”

Adding to the experience, Red Bull, Martell and Jägermeister energised the bar,
enhancing a night that celebrated the intersection of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and
African cultural celebration.
