Spotify took over Pitori by hosting the 2025 Wrapped party at 012 Central, Pretoria as part of its annual campaign, bringing fans together to celebrate South Africa’s hottest music moments in a true capital city style.

Music lovers, social media influencers and media gathered to enjoy the festivities and musical moments that defined the year. Leading up to the main event, Spotify curated a city-to-city Fan Destination experience in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, and the last stop being in Pretoria. This initiative aimed to meet fans and supporters within their communities. The first 100 fans were treated to the Spotify amagwinya (a street food) paired with local fillings, accompanied by Darwin Rev’s track Amagwyina Aphelile fused with the nostalgic childhood ice cream sound, resulting in a deeper fan engagement and a true taste of local flavour.

The event spotlighted South Africa’s rich musical variety and homegrown music genres originating from the capital city, including lekompo from Limpopo, Bacardi, Pitori Rap, Early Amapiano, Hip Hop and Afro Soul.

The night came alive with standout performances, including Spotify Wrapped’s most-streamed song of 2025 in South Africa, “Isaka” by CIZA. Focalistic delivered a high-energy performance that fans had been waiting for. Mawhoo also had fans singing along at the top of their voice to her top South African song Bengicela, and Makhadzi’s electric performance left us all breathless. Other performances included: Pabi Cooper, Janesh, Sia the Bee, and one of the most streamed artists in South Africa, JAZZWRLD x Thukuthela, among others.

A dedicated HypeNation stage highlighted some of Pitori’s Rap, Hip Hop, Drill and Trap, featuring cyphers and DJs. For a safe experience, media, guests and fans were gifted 20% off Uber rides to and from 012 Central.

“Wrapped serves to reflect and connect us to real stories, real artists, and the neighborhoods that inspired them. Events like these offer fans a chance to deepen their connection and engage with the voices that move them. Spotify remains committed to spotlighting the artists and scenes that are reshaping culture, to dance floors in Pretoria to playlists,” said Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa.
